Yonkers resident Raheem Nelson was arrested this week and charged with assault and other charges for a pair of incidents over the summer when he stabbed his victim.
Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr., announced that on Aug. 7, Nelson encountered a second man outside a Yonkers apartment building and allegedly stabbed him with a screwdriver. While injured, Nelson’s victim made his way into a nearby building, and a third party called police.
Nelson’s victim was transported to Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx with life-threatening injuries that he survived. Nelson was caught on a surveillance camera that led police to him. He was arrested on Thursday, Aug. 9. Scarpino noted that Nelson also allegedly stabbed his victim with a knife on July 11.
Nelson, 22, has been charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault, menacing and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon. He is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 28 to respond to the charges.
